History of Mt. La Crosse
In 1959, Ted and Sue Motschman opened Mt. La Crosse with the dream of making it a long-term staple of the La Crosse community. Since then, it has developed into a destination ski resort with the steepest vertical slope in Wisconsin. Boasting the annual Wisconsin State and High School Ski & Snowboard Championships, Mt. La Crosse has established itself as a spot for expert and beginner skiers and snowboarders alike.
With 18 trails, a terrain park and night skiing, Mt. La Crosse is serviced by 3 double chair lifts and a moving carpet on the “bunny hill.” The unique A-Frame chalet and our award-winning “Apres-ski” bar, provide convenient respite after a long day on the hill.
Mt. La Crosse is proud to be a part of La Crosse, Wisconsin history and is excited to continue to offer high quality skiing and snowboarding for racers and families for generations to come.
