Tot Mini Lessons (NEW!)
Tot ski lessons introduce your toddler to the basics of skiing in a fun and playful environment. These 45 minute lessons focus on getting tots comfortable with skis and snow, normalizes falling, building confidence and basic balance skills. While some lessons involve short, easy runs, the emphasis is often on supervised play, social interaction, and short bursts of activity rather than intensive skiing.

Adaptive Lessons
Downhill skiing is for everyone, and we want to help you get outside and on the snow this winter! Polar Pals: Foundational Ski Racing
Polar Pals is designed for kids who want to build a strong foundation in skiing. This program focuses on the basics of ski techniques and fundamental skills that help young skiers become more confident and independent. Whether your child is interested in future racing or simply advancing their skiing abilities, Polar Pals provides the perfect base for growth on the slopes.

- Skills Required: Stopping, turning, comfortable on green runs & learning on blue runs, ability to ride chairlift unassisted, willing to explore new/difficult terrain

Grizzly Gliders: Beginner – Intermediate Ski Racers
Grizzly Gliders is the next step for graduates of Polar Pals who are ready to take their skiing to the next level. This program builds on foundational skills with more advanced techniques and an introduction to racing. Students will even have the chance to participate in NASTAR races during class, gaining valuable gate experience in a fun, supportive environment.

- Skills Required: *Graduate of Polar Pals or proficient in Polar Pals required skills (see Polar Pals)
- Comfortable on blue runs & learning on black runs, willing to explore advanced terrain, and interested in learning racing specific skills

Lesson Procedures
We encourage guests to arrive 30 minutes prior to lesson start time dressed and ready!
Check-in at the Ski School desk in the Sitzplatz with your barcode (from purchase email) to scan in and get tickets.
If rentals are needed, you’ll be directed to rentals to get geared up.
Lesson takers will meet their instructor at the educational meeting place sign outside.
All personal gear that is not needed for lessons will be left with parents, stored in the boardroom, or dropped off at vehicle before the start of lesson.
To pick up participants at the end of the lesson time, please meet the instructor by the educational meeting place sign or discuss your pickup plan before the lesson begins.
Lesson Policies
ALL CLASSES are subject to instructor availability.
Mt. La Crosse reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any lessons for any reason at our discretion. In the case of a hill closure, lessons can be rescheduled or returned in full.
Rescheduling Policy
To reschedule lessons, please call (608) 788-0044 and ask for ski school. You must do so at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled lesson date. If you fail to do so, you will forfeit your lesson credit and the ability to reschedule.
Cancellation Policy
Cancel 48 hours or more prior to scheduled lesson date = Full lesson credit considered
Cancel within 48 hours prior to scheduled lesson date = No lesson credit / No refund
All lessons begin promptly at their designated times. Please allow enough time to arrange for lift tickets and equipment rentals prior to the lesson’s start time. Due to the size of the hill and the number of children enrolled in our activities, we are not able to accommodate late arrivals.
Mt. La Crosse does not issue credits, refunds, or exchanges for: No-shows, late arrivals, schedule conflicts, weather conditions, traffic, changing your mind, etc. Showing up late to a lesson is considered a no-show.
Children must be completely potty-trained, able to communicate and willing to ski/ride in order to be enrolled in lessons.
FAQ’s
How early should I show up to my lesson?
Please plan to show up at least 30 minutes before your lesson to check-in in the Ski School, get dressed, grab rentals, and meet your instructor.
Where do I go to check in for my Lessons?
The Ski School located in the Sitzplatz. Look for the room between the Main Chalet and the Pro Shop with the big red desk!
Where do I meet my instructor?
After checking in, you will meet your instructor outside at the “Ski Education Meeting Place” sign. This sign is on the brown fencing surrounding chair #1. (see image below)

Is parking free?
YES! Guests are free to park anywhere in our parking lot free of cost.
How should I dress for my Lesson?
Check the weather before you come. Plan to dress in layers to stay warm and comfortable. Wear a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulated mid-layer, and a waterproof, breathable outer layer like a ski jacket and pants. Don’t forget gloves, a hat, neck gator and warm socks to protect against the cold and wind.
Can I request my favorite instructor?
Yes, our instructors love to continue working with lesson takers throughout the season. If you have a favorite instructor PLEASE CALL 608-788-0044 while booking a lesson and we will help you schedule a lesson when that instructor is working next that works with your schedule!
Can I keep Skiing/Snowboarding after my lesson?
YES! All lesson programs include a Complimentary All-Day Lift Ticket.
Can I keep my rentals after my lesson?
YES! A lesson-taker perk is the ability to keep your rentals for the rest of the day with no additional cost!
What is included in a “Rental Package”?
Ski Rental Package: Skis, boots, helmet, and poles (if needed)
Snowboard Rental Package: Snowboard, boots, & helmet
How old do children have to be to take a lesson?
2-3 years old is the youngest lesson takers Mt. La Crosse teaches. Children are required to be fully potty-trained before taking their first 1-hr private lesson.
Do you accept walk-in Lessons?
Typically we require guests to book lessons 48-hrs in advance. Please call to inquire if we have any openings for the day. Availability for walk-in lessons are limited based on instructor capacity, and not guaranteed.
What is your CANCELLATION policy?
